GOP county exec candidate D. Raja is out with his first TV commercial in his primary fight vs Chuck McCullough. It's a basic economic message with a bit from the April 15 Tea Party in Market Square.

The newsiest part of the spot may be the line saying Raja will "stop the tax-raising reassessment" due this year. Here's the explanation from consultant Mark Harris: "Raja does not want to put the citizens of Allegheny county at a disadvantage to the other counties that have not reassessed. Raja will work with the judge, with county council, and with the elected leaders in Harrisburg to find a permanent fix for the property tax situation to make sure it is equitable and fair."

We'll have more later, but here's a quick look:

UPDATE: Pennsylvania Democratic committee spokesman Mark Nicastre weighs in on the ad, and the 34% approval rating Tom Corbett got in the last PPP poll. (We should mention Raja is called a "conservative Republican" in the ad, which we imagine we won't hear as much if/when he makes it to the fall and has to combat a 2:1 Republican voter disadvantage in the county.).

How many other political ads have ever touted the endorsement of a politician with a 34 percent approval rating? Tom Corbett is deeply unpopular, and we sincerely hope this is a significant ad buy that's seen by as many voters in Allegheny County as possible. Voters should know that D. Raja supports Tom Corbett and his out of touch agenda that will raise property taxes and increase tuition costs for middle class families.
