Stevens retiring; Specter in spotlight?

Speaking of retirements, nearly 90-year-old Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens has also announced he's stepping down.
The Pennsylvania connection -- Arlen Specter is of course a longtime Judiciary Committee member who publicly urged Stevens on Sunday to hold off his retirement, saying the political atmosphere in DC is too toxic for a confirmation battle now. The Sestak camp said what Specter really wants is to deflect criticism of his role in allowing the Court to lurch rightward during the Bush II administration.
