We've mentioned Florida congressman Tom Rooney a few times on this blog the last two years -- the last time it was for his Steelers Snuggie -- so today we dutifully report how he told a hometown paper that Ben Roethlisberger is "an idiot."

The Rooneys are grandsons of Pittsburgh Steelers founder Art Rooney. When asked about his favorite NFL team, Tom Rooney responded:

"The Steelers, I have no choice. But," referencing Ben Roethlisburger's repeated run-ins with the law, Rooney added, "our quarterback is still an idiot."

The story notes that his brother Pat Rooney Jr.is running for the Florida state House and brother Brian is running for a Michigan congressional seat. All three are Republicans.

(Their dad Patrick -- a racetrack owner in West Palm Beach, is one of Dan Rooney's four brothers.)
