Republican Senate hopeful Pat Toomey will be off the campaign trail for a couple days as his wife, Kris, gave birth last night to the couple's third child: Duncan Olin Toomey, who was born two weeks early and weighed in at 7 pounds, 2 ounces. Duncan joins Bridget, 9, and Patrick, 8, in the Toomey home outside Allentown.
“This is a very happy and exciting time for our family," Toomey said in a statement "There’s nothing quite like the birth of a child to focus one’s attention on what really matters most in life. Both Kris and Duncan are doing very well. Duncan is a bundle of joy, and he is already being doted upon by his brother and sister. Kris and I are very grateful for all the well wishes we’ve received from so many people and look forward to being back on the campaign trail soon."
Toomey faces Johnstown's Peg Luksik in the May 18 Republican primary. He had been scheduled to be in Erie and Pittsburgh today.
