Specter has cash advantage

Published by Tim McNulty on .

Arlen Specter may have lost his lead in the polls, but he continues to be far ahead of Joe Sestak in fundraising.

The Senate pre-primary reports are finally online, and the Specter camp reported getting $305,000 from April 1 through April 28; spending $3.57 million; and ending the period with $5.8 million in cash. He spent $2.75 million in advertising through Multi Media Services Corp. of Alexandria, Va.

The Sestak campaign collected $132,000; spent $2.4 million; and had $2.9 million on hand April 28. It spent $1.1 million in ads through the Campaign Group in Philadelphia.

In late (post-reporting period) contributions Specter also leads, bringing in $80,000 last week to Sestak's $9,000.

Republican Pat Toomey outraised the Democrats greatly. He took in $1 million during the period, spent $452,000; and had $4.65 million on-hand.

His GOP challenger Peg Luksik raised $39,000; spent $35,000; and had $12,800 on hand.
