GOP: what about unemployment?
At Politico, Mike Allen has an early GOP response to the president's economic remarks at CMU this afternoon:
THE PRESIDENT flies to Pittsburgh and at 1:35 p.m. “will deliver a speech at Carnegie Mellon University and will discuss the state of our economy, the future we need to seize, and the path we choose to get there. He will talk about the progress we’ve made in building the New Foundation he discussed at Georgetown last year, as well as the work we have left to do.”
--A Senate Republican aide e-mails: “Interesting idea. But when he gave that Georgetown speech, unemployment had just hit 8.5 percent—14 months and hundreds of billions of stimulus spending later, it’s now 9.9 percent.”
