He might have preferred the joint appearance a few weeks ago, but Sen. Arlen Specter, now a lame duck, was flying from Washington to Pittsburgh with President Obama on Air Force 1. 

The Specter campaign, in the home stretch of its battle against Rep.Joe Sestak, reportedly sought but didn't get a last minute campaign appearance with the president.  Mr. Sestak skipped the CMU event in favor of a Philadelphia appearance to accept a labor union endorsement.
